Samsung is rumored to launch the next flagship smartphone in the Galaxy series a few months earlier than before. The South Korean company used to announce its next Galaxy S smartphone in February at Mobile World Congress (MWC) trade fair and then launch it on the market in late April or early May.

However, the handset maker may have decided to change the pattern for the next year due to unexpected low sales of Samsung Galaxy S4.

Even though the company has yet to come forward with an official announcement, all the rumors surfaced in the last couple of weeks point to this decision.

According to the latest hearsay, Samsung Galaxy S5 will be announced as early as January, probably at Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2014 and will go on sale sometime in late February or March. Take these with a grain of salt though, as there isn’t any confirmation from Samsung yet.

There has been much talk on Samsung Galaxy S5’s specs and design lately, but for the time being, no pictures of the upcoming device leaked online.

The latest info on the Galaxy S5 has recently surfaced via the GFXBench benchmark site, which has listed a certain Samsung SM-G900S device that packs all the hardware the former is said to be equipped with.

The said smartphone appears in the benchmark with a large display that supports 2560 x 1440 pixels resolution, which is rumored to be one of the main selling points of the upcoming Galaxy S5.

Furthermore, the SM-G900S seems to be equipped with Qualcomm’s powerful 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor. This is the same chipset packed within the recently announced Gionee Elife E7 that’s going on sale in China very soon.

Last but not least, Samsung SM-G900S is powered by Android 4.4 KitKat platform, which doesn’t come as a surprise at all. More details on the unannounced Galaxy S5 will probably emerge in the following weeks, so stay tuned for additional info.
