The new mobile phone was released on the carrier’s network with a price tag of $649.99 (€483) attached to it, if purchased contract-free, as can be seen on Sprint's website.

Users who would like to grab the smartphone on a contract agreement, however, will be able to get it for $0 upfront, on $27.09 (€20) per month plans.

The new handset lands on the market with about the same specs and capabilities as the original Galaxy S5 smartphone, but also sports a series of exclusive features and capabilities, which make it fit for those living active lives.

“The Galaxy S 5 Sport is a powerhouse device that is accessible as it is capable. It’s your world, the Galaxy S5 just helps you rule it,” the wireless carrier notes.

“If you live an active life, this is the phone for you. The Samsung Galaxy S 5 Sport is dirt and water resistant and features Sprint Fit Live, an app that collects fitness and activity information from popular apps such as MapMyFitness and displays it in an easy-to-find place.”

The Galaxy S5 Sport was released on Sprint’s network with a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen display capable of delivering a full HD (1080 x 1920 pixel resolution), while being powered by a 2.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor.

Moreover, the handset sports 2GB of RAM, along with 16GB of internal memory, and a microSD memory card slot that allows users to add up to 128GB of additional storage space to it.

On the back, the new mobile phone features a 16-megapixel camera with 4K video recording, paired with a 2MP front camera for making video calls while on the go.

Moreover, the mobile phone was released with support for Sprint’s 4G LTE network, as well as with 3G connectivity, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capabilities, and a built-in GPS receiver.

The new Samsung Galaxy S5 Sport runs under the Android 4.4 KitKat operating system and is powered by a 2800mAh Lithium Ion battery that can deliver up to 19 hours of talk time.

According to Sprint, the new mobile phone also comes with a special promotion for those users interested in the purchase of Samsung Gear Fit.

“Through October 16, 2014, you can save $50 (€37) on the Samsung Gear Fit when you buy a Samsung Galaxy S5 Sport or any other Galaxy Smartphone from Sprint,” the wireless carrier notes.
