Shortly after AT&T announced that it kicked off the rollout of Android 5.0 Lollipop update to Samsung Galaxy S4 devices, the carrier has confirmed that another Samsung smartphone will be getting the same treatment.

Beginning April 8, AT&T customers who own the Samsung Galaxy S5 should check their smartphones for a new update that will bump the OS version to Android 5.0 Lollipop.

It was a bit weird to see that the Galaxy S4 is getting the Android 5.0 Lollipop update before a newer model, the Galaxy S5. Fortunately, Galaxy S5 owners did not have to wait too long for the upgrade, as AT&T delivered it only one day later.

Keep in mind that this update is pretty large (1.4GB), so Wi-Fi is required in order to download Android 5.0 Lollipop on your Samsung Galaxy S5.

According to AT&T, the upgrade is pushed OTA (over the air) in stages, so it might take a few days for all Galaxy S5 owners to receive it. Make sure your phone's battery is at least 50% charged before attempting to download Android 5.0 Lollipop.

We also recommend users to back up their information on an SD card or PC before updating to Android 5.0 Lollipop just in case.

No other improvements included except those added by Android 5.0 Lollipop

Moving on to changes and improvements included in this update, AT&T has already released the official changelog. You can find some of the highlights below:

- Songs, photos, apps, and even recent searches from one Android device can be immediately enjoyed across all of your Android devices; - New User Interface look and feel, more fluid motions; - Priority mode to only allow certain notifications to get through; - Battery saving features and remaining time left to charge or deplete indicators; - Smart Lock to secure phone or tablet by pairing it with a trusted device like a wearable or car; - Most frequently used settings available with just two swipes down from the top screen.

For the most part, they seem to be the same changes that were announced for Galaxy S4, but that one also got a few apps removed.
