Today, South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung Electronics officially confirmed plans to make its Galaxy S5 flagship smartphone available for users in the UK starting with April 11.

Moreover, the company unveiled that the device would be put up for pre-order in this market starting with March 28, and that users would find it available through select retailers in the country, as well as via Samsung’s e-store and the Stratford Westfield Experience Store in London, as TNW reports.

The one thing that Samsung hasn’t unveiled as of now is how much the new device will cost when put up for sale, though previous reports on the matter suggested that it could be quite expensive, at around £600 / €730 / $1000.

Users in the UK interested in the mobile phone can now head over to the company’s UK website to register for updates on its availability.

“If you can’t wait to get your hands on the new Samsung Galaxy S5, simply register now. We only need a few contact details so we can contact you when it’s available to pre-order,” the vendor notes on said portal.

Samsung made the Galaxy S5 official last month, during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, with a 5.1-inch touchscreen display capable of delivering a full HD resolution.

The handset also packs a 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor inside, along with 2GB of RAM, and 16GB / 32GB of internal memory. It also features a microSD memory card slot for expansion purposes.

At the same time, the new flagship handset was announced with a 16-megapixel camera on the back, with support for 4K video recording, as well as with a front camera for making video calls while on the go.

Samsung Galaxy S5 is also dust- and water-resistant, while being powered by a 2800mAh battery that also features great battery-saving technology. It comes with a fingerprint scanner on the homescreen button, and a heart rate monitor on the back.

The mobile phone was announced with Google’s Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system, as well as with Samsung’s own user interface loaded on top. The smartphone also comes with a great deal of exclusive Samsung applications inside.

One thing that should be noted here is that the handset will arrive on shelves worldwide on April 11, not only in the UK. Samsung unveiled this at the MWC, though specific details on local availability have yet to be announced.
