Romania is one of the first countries where Samsung has decided to officially introduce its next flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S5. The announcement comes ahead of the UK launch and a lot of other events that have been scheduled in various countries during this week.

According to Samsung Romania, the Galaxy S5 will be available for purchase beginning next month, along with the Samsung Gear 2 and Gear Fit, which will hits shelves around the same timeframe.

While no details on the smartphone’s price have been revealed, several carriers and retailers across the country already take pre-orders for the Galaxy S5 for around €700 ($965) outright, which is slightly more expensive than the US model.

However, the Galaxy S5 will be out for grabs for much lower at various carriers, but customers will have to commit to a new 2-year agreement. Depending on the selected plan, a higher upfront price will be required.

From what we have seen at the launch event, Samsung Galaxy S5 will be available in Charcoal Black, Shimmery White and Electric Blue color options. We haven’t seen the Copper Gold version, but we don’t rule out the availability of this color next month.

Speaking of which, Samsung Romania has only confirmed that the Galaxy S5 will be available for purchase in April, but no exact release date has been given.

We suspect that the smartphone will be introduced around the same time as the Galaxy S5 makes its debut in those 150 countries confirmed by Samsung.

Customers in Romania should also know that Samsung will bring the Qualcomm-based Galaxy S5 variant in the country, which means that they will be able to take advantage of LTE data speeds when in range.

Samsung Galaxy S5’s Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset packs a 2.5GHz quad-core processor inside, along with an Adreno 330 graphics processing unit and 2GB of RAM.

Depending on the model, the Galaxy S5 will come with either 16GB or 32GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 128GB via microSD memory card.

The phone accepts microSIM cards and features a high-capacity 2800 mAh Li-Ion battery that should provide up to 390 hours of standby time or up to 21 hours of talk time. The actual usage time will definitely be much lower.

Software-wise, the Galaxy S5 will be powered by Google’s latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system and Samsung’s TouchWiz UI on top. No major design changes have been included in this version of TouchWiz, so don’t expect anything impressive.
