Starting today, mobile phone users in India can pre-order the latest Android-based flagship handset from South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung, namely the Galaxy S5.

The handset was officially introduced in the country earlier this week, when Samsung unveiled an April 11 availability date for it.

However, the phone went up for reservations through Samsung’s official e-store in the country, though no specific info on its cost has been provided.

Those who would like to pre-order the device will need to pay Rs. 1500 now, and will have to come up with the remaining amount once the phone becomes available for purchase.

However, Samsung also announced that users in India with Citbank credit cards will enjoy a 15-percent cash back on the handset when grabbing it next month, as fonearena notes.

For those who might have missed Samsung’s announcement earlier this week, we should note that the device was launched in India with an Octa-Core Exynos 5422 (Cortex-A15 1.9GHz and Cortex-A7 1.3GHz) processor packed inside.

The device sports only 3G HSPA+ connectivity inside, given that the LTE-enabled version is powered by a 2.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 CPU.

The rest of the mobile phone’s hardware specifications remain unchanged from the original model, including the 5.1-inch Super AMOLED screen capable of delivering a full HD resolution.

Moreover, the handset arrives on the market with 2GB of RAM, as well as with 16GB of internal memory, and with a microSD memory card slot for expansion purposes.

On the back, Samsung Galaxy S5 features a 16-megapixel camera, which is capable of recording videos in 4K resolution at 30fps. Moreover, it features a 2MP front camera for making video calls while on the go.

The phone was also unveiled with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS receiver inside, as well as with a 2800 mAh battery, capable of offering long usage times.

Running under the Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system, the new flagship device also packs a variety of exclusive applications and features coming from Samsung themselves, such as S Health, S Voice, Download Booster, and more.

Galaxy S5 also sports a dust- and water-resistant design, with an IP67 certification, which makes it resistant to sweat, rain, liquids, sand and dust. Moreover, it arrives on the market with a Finger Scanner built into the homes screen, as well as with a Heart Rate Sensor on the back.

Starting with April 11, the mobile phone will be available for purchase in various markets around the world as well, just as Samsung has officially announced at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona last month.
