14 DAY TRIAL // South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung Electronics has started to deliver a new software update for the Galaxy S5 smartphones in users’ hands in Europe, only a few days after LG Electronics made a similar move with its LG G3 smartphone.
The new firmware refresh is being delivered to Galaxy S5 smartphones on the old continent as a 194MB file, followed by a much smaller, 1MB update.
Apparently, all that has been included in the new software release would be performance improvements, as no other changes are mentioned in the changelog attached to it.
As Android Central notes, following the update, users will see their smartphones running under firmware version XXU1ANG2, which is still based on Android 4.4.2 KitKat.
Apparently, the smartphone is indeed a bit faster following the update, though we’re not sure that such a large software refresh comes only with performance enhancements.
The new software iteration is being delivered to users over the air, which means that they will receive a notification as soon as it is available for their devices.
However, it will be released in stages, the same as other firmware updates before it. Thus, some of you might have to wait for a few days before receiving it, though you can also go to Settings > General > About phone > Software update to manually check on its availability.
