14 DAY TRIAL // Starting today, users in the United States can purchase the Samsung Galaxy S5 flagship handset on the network of another wireless carrier in the country, namely MetroPCS.
The handset was made official in February, during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, and it landed on shelves around the world last week, on April 11.
Various wireless carriers in the United States added it to their offering that day too, but MetroPCS was a bit late with the launch.
Today, however, this has changed, and its customers can now grab the Galaxy S5, while having to pay $649 (€470) plus tax for it, contract-free.
At the moment, the handset is available through the wireless operator’s local stores, though it should be put up for grabs online as well in the near future, the carrier notes on its website.
Users interested in grabbing the device online can head over to this page on MetroPCS’ portal to sign up for receiving notifications on its availability.

The carrier also notes that the new device arrives on shelves with features meant to improve users’ lives, making every day better.
The handset sports a 5.1-inch touchscreen display capable of delivering a full HD resolution, along with a 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor inside, and 2GB of RAM.
Moreover, it was announced with 16GB of internal memory, a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 128GB of additional storage space, and a 2800mAh battery, which also includes great battery life savings.
Samsung Galaxy S5 features a 16-megapixel camera on the back, capable of recording videos in 4K resolution, and it also sports a front camera for making video calls while on the go.
Samsung also announced the phone with 4G LTE connectivity packed inside, as well as with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS receiver, and the usual set of sensors.
The phone runs under Android 4.4.2 KitKat, with Samsung’s own TouchWiz UI loaded on top, with features such as S Health, S Voice, S Translate, Samsung Apps, and others more.
