The “Next Big Thing” coming from Samsung, the Galaxy S5, will be officially introduced in India on March 27. Unveiled back in late February, the smartphone has been confirmed to hit shelves in more than 150 countries on April 11.

Given the fact that the Galaxy S5 will be announced in India this week, we can safely assume that the flagship smartphone will go on sale in mid-April, as previously announced.

According to fonearena, the Indian launch coincides with the Malaysian announcement, so Samsung fans living in Malaysia are likely to get the Galaxy S5 from the shelves around the same timeframe as customers in India.

Unfortunately, there are no details regarding the smartphone’s price tag in neither of these countries. However, we expect Samsung to price the Galaxy S5 around the $650 mark, which would bring it on par with the model launched in the United States on April 11.

It’s also unclear which version of the Galaxy S5 Samsung will launch in India next month. Just like the previous Galaxy S model, the South Korean handset maker will release at least two variants that will be equipped with different chipsets: Qualcomm and Exynos.

Samsung Galaxy S5 will also be powered by either Qualcomm or Exynos chips, so based on the previous experiences, we expect the company to launch the Exynos-based model in India.

The Exynos-based Galaxy S5 does not feature LTE support, but is likely to pack an octa-core processor inside. Aside from that, there are any differences between the two models.

It would have been great if Samsung had been able to launch a dual-SIM Galaxy S5 model in India, but that always seems to be limited to the Chinese market.

Samsung announced last month that Galaxy S5 would be launched on the market in multiple color options, including Charcoal Black, Shimmery White, Electric Blue and Copper Gold. However, the Electric Blue and Copper Gold versions did not appear in the United States.

Vodafone UK announced that the Copper Gold Galaxy S5 would be exclusively available through its official retail channels.

For the time being, it’s unclear whether or not customers in India will be able to choose from all four color options confirmed by Samsung.

We expect more details on the Galaxy S5’s availability in India to be unveiled later this week when the smartphone is officially introduced in the country. Stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
