Today, South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung Electronics has officially announced the upcoming availability of its Galaxy S5 flagship handset in India, after unveiling it to the world last month during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

The phone was launched in the country during a special event held in New Delhi, though users won’t be able to purchase it until April 11, when it will be put up for sale in other markets out there as well.

Samsung did not say how much the phone would cost in the country, though the company did suggest that the device would be priced between Rs. 51,000 ($847/€614) and Rs. 53,000 ($880/€638), a post on gadgets.ndtv.com reads.

Specifics on the official cost of the device will be revealed at a later date but, with pre-orders set to kick off on March 29, chances are that we’ll be able to learn more on this then.

Galaxy S5 will arrive in India with about the same features and capabilities as the International version, though it will pack one major difference: an Exynos processor.

Samsung announced that the handset would be powered by one of its own chips, which would be the octa-core Exynos 5422 (1.9GHz quad-core Cortex-A15 and 1.3GHz quad-core Cortex-A7) processor.

The chipset will provide users with HSPA+ connectivity capabilities, while also including Heterogeneous Multi-Processing, for optimized performance. It will be accompanied by 2GB of RAM.

The rest of the smartphones hardware specs will remain the same, starting with the 5.1-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen display that can deliver a full HD resolution.

Samsung Galaxy S5 also includes a 16-megapixel camera on the back, capable of recording videos in 4K resolution, as well as a 2.1MP front camera for making video calls while on the go.

The handset will be released in India in 16GB and 32GB variants, but users will be able to add some extra storage space to it, courtesy of a microSD memory card slot with support for memory cards of up to 128GB.

Samsung has unveiled the flagship device with the usual set of connectivity capabilities inside, a fingerprint sensor in the home button, a heart rate monitor on the back, and a 2800mAh battery to deliver long usage times.

Galaxy S5 runs under the Android 4.4 KitKat operating system, with Samsung’s own TouchWiz UI loaded on top, offering exclusive features and apps, such as Adaptive Display, Kids Mode, Knox security, Private Mode, S-Health, and Ultra Power Saving Mode.

Starting with April 11, users in India will be able to grab the new Samsung Galaxy S5 in four color versions, including Charcoal Black, Shimmery White, Electric Blue, and Copper Gold.
