Galaxy S5, the latest flagship smartphone from South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung, has already started to emerge at various retailers out there, thus providing us with some more info on the price tag that it might feature when officially released in April.

Yesterday, we learned that the handset could go for around €650 ($897) in France, but it appears that users in other countries might actually have to pay more if they want to buy one.

At the moment, the phone is listed listed at online retailer Clove in the UK with a price tag of £458 (£550 with tax), which would be $918/€670, for the 16GB model. No info on the cost that the 32GB version of the device might feature has been provided.

The smartphone is now up for pre-order, and those who would like to secure one for when it becomes available for purchase should head over to the retailer’s website for that.

One thing that is certain, however, is the fact that the phone’s price is much higher than what many might have been expecting it to be.

However, it appears that this is not the only retailer out there to have the Galaxy S5 listed with a higher price tag, as the phone can also be seen on Amazon Spain at €730 (that’s around £600/$1,000).

Previous reports on Galaxy S5 have suggested that the smartphone might be released with a similar or lower cost when compared to the Galaxy S4, though it appears that things will not turn this way in the end.

Unfortunately, Samsung hasn’t provided official details on the phone’s pricing as of now, and it actually remains to be seen whether the final recommended cost will be lower than what retailers claim at the moment that it will be.

We had the chance to play with Galaxy S5 at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona when it was made official on Monday, and we were impressed with it.

The design makes it very appealing; it has a good grip and also performs fast. The new TouchWiz UI that Samsung has loaded on top of it makes you want one even more, not to mention the various hardware enhancements that were included inside it.

However, we’re not quite sure that it is actually worth paying €730 for it, as Amazon Spain asks at the moment. Most probably, Samsung will provide specifics on this closer to the phone’s April release, so stay tuned for more on the matter.
