Samsung Galaxy S5, the latest flagship Android-based handset from the South Korean mobile phone maker, is already a highly appealing device, but some appear determined to make it even more attractive, by offering it at a lower price tag.

For example, at Radio Shack, the smartphone is now available for purchase at only $79.99 (€59) with the signing of a two-year contract agreement with AT&T, Sprint, or Verizon, and will remain so for the next two weeks, it seems.

However, the retailer also notes that the promotion is only available for those who will bring in an older device, and that the regular price tag for the smartphone is $199.99 (€147).

Users can also purchase the phone contract-free, though they will have to get up to $799.99 (€587) out of their pockets if they choose to do so.

The aforementioned $79.99 offer will end on Father’s Day, June 15, and will include both new contracts and upgrades, it seems.

Samsung Galaxy S5 was made official in February during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, with a nice range of high-end capabilities inside, thus capable of offering an experience worthy of a flagship device.

The handset sports a large 5.1-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen display capable of delivering a full HD resolution, and is powered by a 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor.

“Samsung has put everything they know about HDTV on brilliant display. Movies come to life as theywere meant to be seen. Richer colors, darker shadows, faster response times,” Radio Shack notes.

Moreover, the mobile phone features 2GB of RAM inside, along with 16GB/32GB of internal memory, and a microSD memory card slot that allows users to add up to 128GB of additional storage space to it.

On the back, the handset sports a 16-megapixel camera capable of recording videos in 4K resolution, complemented by a 2MP front camera, which should easily prove a great option when it comes to video chatting or taking selfies.

The specifications list of Samsung Galaxy S5 also includes 4G LTE connectivity, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, the usual set of sensors (including a fingerprint scanner and a heart-rate monitor), and a built-in GPS receiver. Moreover, the phone is powered by a 2800mAh battery.

Samsung Galaxy S5 runs under the Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system, with the company’s latest version of TouchWiz UI loaded on top of it.

Users interested in grabbing the smartphone via Radio Shack can learn more on the aforementioned offer on this page on the retailer’s website. The handset is available through the company’s retail locations as well.
