Starting today, mobile phone users in the United States can purchase the Samsung Galaxy S5 flagship handset through various wireless carriers and retailers out there, yet those who are interested in a rather complete experience with this device might want to hold off from grabbing it.

According to Samsung’s website, a Developer Edition flavor of the handset is also being prepared and will become available for purchase in the country on the network of wireless carrier Verizon soon, phonescoop has found out.

Unfortunately, no specific info on when the handset might arrive on shelves has been provided as of now, and details on its pricing are missing as well, though it might not be too long before Samsung and Verizon officially release the device.

No details on what additional tools this flavor of the device could sport inside have been unveiled either, but chances are that it will hit shelves with an unlocked bootloader inside, the same as other Developer Edition phones did before it.

One thing that Samsung did unveil, however, was the fact that this phone would arrive on the market in a Charcoal Black flavor. Most probably, it should sport all the features and capabilities of the original as well, including the TouchWiz UI that Samsung loaded on top of the Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system.

This means that those who will wait a bit longer for the Developer Edition device to arrive will enjoy the same 5.1-inch full HD touchscreen display (432 ppi pixel density) as on the original, along with a 2.5GHz quad-core processor inside it.

Samsung Galaxy S5 was also announced with 2GB of RAM, as well as with 16GB of internal memory, and with a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 128GB of internal memory.

It also features a 16-megapixel camera on the back, with 4K video recording capabilities, as well as a 2MP front camera for making video calls.

Samsung announced it with the usual set of connectivity capabilities and sensors packed inside too, as well as with a 2800mAh battery that can deliver up to 11 hours of talk time on 3G, or up to 480 hours of standby time.

The handset will come with support for Verizon’s 4G LTE network, as well as with the full range of exclusive features that Samsung unveiled for it in February, such as S Translator, S Voice, Samsung Widget Gallery, WatchON, Smart Gestures, Smart Pause, Smart Unlock, and the like.
