Galaxy S5, the latest Android-based flagship smartphone from South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung will become available for purchase in the UK via wireless carrier Three in the not too distant future, the operator has officially confirmed.

The device will provide Three UK users with all the benefits of 4G LTE connectivity on the wireless carrier’s network, as well as with the features and capabilities that Samsung announced for it on February 24, during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

Compared to last year’s flagship phone, the new device packs a larger, 5.1-inch touchscreen display inside, along with a faster processor, clocked in at 2.5GHz (a Snapdragon 801 CPU).

Galaxy S5 also comes with the Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system loaded on top, as well as with a 16-megapixel camera on the back, with support for recording videos in 4K resolution.

“Samsung have really raised the bar with the S5 in many ways; not only is the camera now 16MP, but it’s got a super speedy auto-focus (0.3 seconds) with advanced High Dynamic Range (HDR),” Three UK notes in a blog post.

“There’s also the pretty nifty Selective Focus feature, which lets you focus on a specific area whilst simultaneously blurring out the background, so you can create really professional looking photos. Voice command to actually take photos just makes the whole experience even quicker and easier.”

At the same time, the new flagship device comes to the market with a series of health-based features, such as a heart rate monitor and S health, which includes a pedometer, and comprehensive diet and exercise records.

There is also a personal fitness tracker to take advantage of, which will help users monitor and manage their behavior, the wireless carrier explains in a blog post.

The mobile phone was also unveiled with a dust- and water-resistant design, which should allow users to enjoy its capabilities in even more situations than before. Not to mention that it comes with a new back case design, for better grip.

“The iconic Samsung design is modified slightly to include a modern perforated pattern on the back cover, which has been ergonomically designed so it’s less likely to slip from your hand. And they’ve brought more variety to the table this time, as the S5 comes in a variety of colors,” Three UK notes.

The wireless carrier did not provide specific info on when to expect Galaxy S5 on its stores, but we assume that it will release it on April 11, when the phone becomes generally available.

Users in the UK interested in the purchase of this handset on Three's network can now register for updates on the matter, straight on the company's website. Details on pricing should be announced closer to the launch date, so stay tuned.
