On Wednesday, mobile phone carrier Cricket Wireless officially announced the availability of the Samsung Galaxy S5 smartphone on its network, with a price tag of only $539.99 (€396) attached to it, on a pre-paid basis.

The operator also reveals that the price tag actually includes a $50 (€36.6) mail-in rebate Cricket Visa Promotion Card, and that the phone will be available starting Friday, June 27.

The deal will be available until July 10, 2014, or until stock is depleted. Moreover, the wireless carrier notes that a new activation is required, and that said Cricket Visa Promotion Cards will be available for 150 days following their issuance.

At Cricket, users will be able to enjoy the capabilities of this device on $35 (€25.7) a month plans, after a $5 credit for using Auto Pay, with taxes and fees included.

Moreover, the company explains that the Galaxy S5 will also be able to take advantage of the carrier’s 4G LTE network, which already covers more than 280 million Americans.

The mobile phone arrives on shelves with a 5.1-inch touchscreen display capable of delivering a full HD resolution, as well as with a 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor inside.

The Galaxy S5 also comes to shelves with 2GB of RAM inside, as well as with 16GB of internal memory and with a microSD memory card slot for expansion purposes.

On the back, the mobile phone features a 16-megapixel camera that can deliver 4K video recording, paired with a 2MP front camera for making video calls.

The specifications list of this handset also includes 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and NFC connectivity, along with a built-in GPS receiver, and the usual set of sensors. The phone also offers health and wellness monitoring capabilities.

On top of that, we should note that the smartphone was launched with dust- and water-resistant capabilities, featuring IP67 rating.

"At Cricket, we offer customers more for their monthly wireless service. We give them the devices they want and care about, at prices they can be excited about, on a new, reliable and fast 4G LTE network," says Andy Smoak, Cricket Wireless' AVP of Product.

"The Galaxy S 5 in prepaid with no annual contract for just $539.99 after a mail-in rebate is a great reason for customers to come check out Cricket."

Galaxy S5 was made official earlier this year with the Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system loaded on top, as well as with a variety of exclusive customizations and applications coming from Samsung itself.
