The phone should prove a bit tougher than the Galaxy S5

South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung has been long rumored to plan on releasing a new, tougher version of the Galaxy S5, and some more info on the matter has leaked recently.

Apparently, the handset will be launched with around 277 APKs packed inside, and a list of these apps has emerged online, courtesy of @evleaks.

With Samsung Galaxy S5 already featuring dust and water resistance (it was announced with IP67 certification), little is known on what Samsung might include in the Active version of the device.

According to PhoneArena, we might see the new smartphone featuring IP68 certification, the same as Sony’s Xperia Z2 flagship.

This means that users will be able to submerge their handsets to up to 1.5 meters (5 feet) of water for one hour, as opposed to the 1 meter (3.2 feet) for up to 30 minutes supported by Galaxy S5.

For the time being, the Samsung Galaxy S5 Active is only a rumor, and you should take the info above with a grain of salt until a formal announcement is made.

However, chances are that the device will be introduced sooner rather than later and that Samsung will unveil it alongside other variants of Galaxy S5, including a mini model.
