Samsung launched the Galaxy S4 featuring Advanced LTE support in South Korea back in June, but said that it would bring the smartphone to other countries as well.

Earlier this month, during IFA 2013 trade fair, in Berlin, Samsung announced the upcoming availability of the Galaxy S4 LTE-A (GT-I9506) in Germany via Deutsche Telekom.

Today, Australian carrier Vodafone has confirmed that this particular version of Galaxy S4 is now available for purchase via its brick and mortar stores, e-Store and call centre.

We’re not sure what the codename used for Galaxy S4 LTE-A in Australia is, but we suspect that it will be the same device launched in Europe earlier this month.

“We’re pleased to be able to offer our customers these two new impressive smartphones on our lightning-fast 4G network. The Samsung GALAXY S 4 with 4G Cat 4 is a very welcome addition to our range because it allows our customers to access superfast data speeds.

“Not only do we have the fastest 4G data speeds across parts of Sydney and Melbourne*, we are proud to introduce the very first Cat 4 smartphone on our network,” said Katie Turkal, general manager of devices at Vodafone.

Unlike the original model, Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE-A offers download speeds of up to 150 Mbps. Obviously, these are just theoretical speeds that can only be attained on perfect condition.

As AusDroid points out, only customers in Adelaide, Perth and Brisbane will be able to take advantage of Category 4 LTE speeds, whereas those living in Melbourne and Sidney will be limited to standard 4G speeds.

Aside for its enhanced LTE support, Galaxy S4 LTE-A does not come with anything new in comparison with the original model. Android enthusiasts can get more details on Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE-A pricing options via the nearest Vodafone store location.
