South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung Electronics has made official in its homeland country yet another high-end smartphone running under Android, namely the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active with LTE-A connectivity packed inside.

The new mobile phone was launched with about the same features and capabilities as the original, but with a series of improvements, including a faster processor and a better camera.

The most important enhancement, however, is the inclusion of support for LTE-A networks, which will enable it to deliver far better data transfer to all users out there.

At the same time, the mobile phone includes a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor inside, clocked in at 2.3GHz, and a 13-megapixel camera on the back, up from the 8MP sensor available on the original.

The rest of the smartphone’s specifications remain the same, as SamMobile notes. This includes the 5-inch touchscreen display that can deliver a full HD resolution.

The handset comes to the market with 2GB of RAM inside, as well as with 32GB of internal memory, and a microSD memory card slot for expansion purposes.

Furthermore, it sports a 2MP front camera for video chatting. The handset can record videos in full HD resolution, and its back camera also sports HDR capabilities and an Aqua mode, which allows it to snap photos when under water.

Galaxy S4 Active is IP67 certified for water and dust resistance, and is powered by a 2600mAh battery. The new device version also comes with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity inside, as well as with built-in GPS receiver, Wi-Fi Direct, DLNA, and NFC, and with the usual set of sensors.

Samsung has launched the LTE-A version of Galaxy S4 Active with the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean platform loaded on top and unveiled that it would hit shelves at SK Telecom with a price tag of around 900,000 Won ($855 / €622) attached to it.
