14 DAY TRIAL // South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung is currently the top smartphone vendor in the Middle East, though it appears that its latest flagship device is not performing as well as expected.
According to a recent report from IDC, Galaxy S4 was selling slower than last year’s Galaxy S III model during the second quarter of the tear. Together with the Galaxy S III mini flavor, the latter even managed to take down Apple’s iPhone 5 in the area.
The research firm also notes that Samsung accounted for almost half of the smartphones sold in the Middle East in Q2 2013, as SamMobile reports.
However, the leading vendor in the handset area remains Nokia, with a 45.2 percent market share. For comparison, Samsung accounted for only 18.3 percent of mobile phone sales in the area in the second quarter of the year.
