Samsung officially announced the Galaxy S III mini in mid-October and promised the smartphone would go on sale in a couple of weeks.

Well, it looks like the smaller version of the popular Galaxy S III is now available for purchase in the UK from multiple carriers and retailers.

Three UK has just announced the Galaxy S III mini is now up for sale at its retail stores and, from November 16, it will go on sale online as well.

Customers who want to purchase the smartphone via Three UK will be able to do so for £270/€340/$430 on PAYG (pay as you go) plus a top up.

In addition, the carrier offers the Samsung Galaxy S III mini for free on the Ultimate Internet 500 plan for £28/ €35/$45 a month, and on The One Plan for £32/€40/$50 a month.

“Not only is the Samsung Galaxy S III Mini a top performing phone but it’s also full of innovative touches like the notification light, which can be customized to flash a different color to alert users to new messages or calls,” said Sylvia Chind, head of devices at Three.

The SIM-free variant of Galaxy S III mini is available in the UK for about £300/€375/$475 from various retailers such as Carphone Warehouse. It can also be purchased in France and Germany via Amazon for similar prices.

Unlike Samsung Galaxy S III, the mini version ships with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean platform out of the box. The smartphone is powered by a 1 GHz NovaThor U8420 dual-core processor, which is complemented by 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory.

Owner will be able to expand the phone’s default storage up to 32GB via microSD memory card. The Galaxy S III mini sports a decent 4.0-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display that supports 480 x 800 pixels resolution. It also packs a 5-megapixel rear camera and a VGA front-facing photo snapper.
