Samsung and KDDI have just announced the upcoming availability of the Galaxy S II WiMAX in Japan. The smartphone features more or less similar hardware and software configurations as other Galaxy S II variants.

No pricing options or exact release date for the WiMAX version of the Galaxy S II have been disclosed yet, but the carrier already lists the smartphone on its official site.

Hardware-wise, Galaxy S II WiMAX is equipped with a 1.4 GHz dual core processor and a huge 4.7-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display with HD resolution (1280 x 720 pixels).

In addition, the superphone boasts an impressive 8-megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording, as well as 2-megapixel front facing camera for video calls. There’s also Wi-Fi and Bluetooth support, along with NFC and 16GB of internal memory.
