During the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung Electronics went official with a new, highly appealing handset running under Google's Android operating system, namely the Samsung Galaxy S II.

No official info on the smartphone's landing on the market emerged for the time being, but it seems that UK users might be able to purchase it starting with March.

After seeing the new device listed on pre-order at Play.com with a price tag of £649.99 attached to it, we can now have a look at the same smartphone over at Clove, which suggests that the first shipments would arrive in late March.

The best part of the deal is that the price tag for this smartphone seems to be much lower than previously reported, as Clove has the 16GB flavor of Galaxy S II listed at only £612, VAT included.

The 32GB flavor of the device is a little more expensive, being priced at £708, VAT included. The 16GB variant can be seen at clove.co.uk here, while the 32GB version of the device is available here.

The mobile phone comes with a 1 GHz dual-core Exynos processor inside, which should go along pretty well with the Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) operating system that Samsung loaded on it.

At the same time, it would offer a nice range of appealing features, such as enhanced multimedia and web browsing capabilities on the 4.3-inch (480 x 800 pixels) Super AMOLED Plus touchscreen display.

Other specifications of the device include 1GB of RAM, along with 16 or 32GB internal storage, a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space.

The smartphone also sports NFC capabilities, WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, 3G support, GPS receiver, 8MP camera with autofocus and LED flash, as well as 2MP front-facing camera. Samsung Galaxy S II measures 125.3 x 66.1 x 8.49 mm and weighs in at 116g, while being powered by a 1650mAh Li-ion battery.
