Samsung Galaxy S II, the latest flagship Android-based mobile phone from South Korean handset vendor Samsung, is almost confirmed for release in the United States on the airwaves of major wireless carriers in the country.

Some of the latest rumors on this device suggested that it should be launched via AT&T, Sprint and Verizon, and that Big Red would have it as Samsung Function.

However, it appears that rumors might have been wrong, and that the smartphone could arrive on shelves under the name of Fascinate II, the successor of last year's Galaxy S model that landed at Verizon as Fascinate.

In a recent tweet, posted as response to a question regarding the availability of Galaxy S II, Verizon's support team notes the following: “Currently there is no info on the Fascinate II device and/or a release date.”

But there's more to it. In another tweet, Verizon notes that the device might arrive with 4G capabilities, though they deny it soon after, saying that the 4G connectivity is packed with Samsung's tablet PC, Galaxy Tab 10.1.

One way or the other, this is a clear indicator of the fact that the Galaxy S II is on its way to Verizon's offering, though it remains to be seen when that might happen, and what name the smartphone could have.

Previously, the mobile phone was said to be on its way to Verizon's network in early August, with the 12th day of the month suggested to be the most probable release date for it.

Apparently, Verizon might soon become the first wireless carrier in the United States to add the Galaxy S II device to its offering, through it will certainly not be the only one to make the move, it seems.

While specific info on the availability of Galaxy S II in the US is not known for the time being, it will certainly not be too long before something is announced, given the fact that Samsung too is preparing to list the smartphone on its website.
