outh Korean mobile phone maker Samsung Electronics is reportedly gearing up for the launch of some new devices on the market in New Zealand, including the Galaxy S II and Nexus S, which should hit the shelves in the country sometime in April.

These are some of the latest smartphones that the company announced for the worldwide market, with Nexus S already available for purchase in some countries, and with Galaxy S II yet to be put on sale.

Apparently, the two smartphones are set to arrive in New Zealand accompanied by another Android device Samsung unveiled not too long ago, namely the Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet PC.

A recent article on PCWorld New Zealand suggests that all of these devices are set to arrive on the local market on the airwaves of wireless carrier Vodafone.

The Nexus S was launched as the first smartphone in the world to run under the new Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system from Google.

The mobile phone comes with a large 4-inch touchscreen display that was curved to shape of a person's face, as well as with a fast 1GHz application processor inside.

Moreover, the new device sports a 5-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with 720p HD video recording capabilities, as well as 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth, NFC, GPS, and other features more.

The second mobile phone Samsung should bring to the market in New Zealand in April, the Galaxy S II, was unveiled during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in mid February.

The smartphone features a dual-core application processor clocked in at 1GHz, 1GB of RAM, a large display, the whole list of connectivity capabilities, microSD memory card slot, GPS receiver, and more.

In addition to these handsets, Samsung also plans on launching a series of lower-priced smartphones on the local market, including the Galaxy Ace and the Galaxy Mini. Specific info on the launch, as well as on the pricing of these devices, has yet to emerge.
