Samsung Galaxy S II continues to prove a great smartphone in more markets around the world, and UK is no stranger to that.

The mobile phone already topped sales charts in Samsung's homeland market, South Korea, and it seems that it is also the best-selling Android in the UK.

Recently, Samsung announced that it managed to sell a number of over 10 million Galaxy S II smartphones since the official release of the device on shelves about five months ago.

If you were wondering just how successful the handset might be in the Europe, you should know that it reportedly managed help Samsung hit the number one top-selling manufacturer in the UK for 30 weeks in a row.

According to a recent article on Mobiles Today, Samsung managed to top the charts starting with the week of February 21st.

Moreover, they note that the handset vendor is trying to accelerate adoption of its devices, and that it will run a £12 million (around 14m Euros / $18.5m) marketing campaign through Christmas.

“We’ve seen phenomenal sales of the Galaxy S II globally and in the UK specifically we’ve achieved record sales of Galaxy S II in recent weeks – ahead of all other Android devices,” Samsung UK and Ireland Mobile MD Simon Stanford reportedly stated.

“We have ambitious plans for the Galaxy family over the coming months evidenced by a £12m marketing campaign which will launch next week,” he continued.

However, the latest sales charts in the UK show that Galaxy S II is still trailing the Apple iPhone 4, even if it is the king on the Android segment.

Most probably, the new marketing campaign that Samsung plans on kicking off for the device will help it boost sales, and might even push the Galaxy S II on the first position on the UK market.
