It looks like Brazil and Poland are the first countries where Samsung decided to deploy the Android 2.3.4 (Gingerbread) for Galaxy S II.

Samsung previously announced that it would roll out the latest Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread update for Galaxy S II owners starting August, but has yet to reveal the update's roadmap.

Although the handset manufacturer released the upgrade only in Poland and Brazil, the update is expected to be deployed slowly in other countries as well.

Obviously, unbranded Galaxy S II devices will be the first to receive the Gingerbread update, whereas carrier-branded Galaxy S II owners will have to wait a bit longer.

Android 2.3.4 adds several performance improvement hot fixes for Galaxy S II smartphones and a new Gtalk version.

In addition, Samsung also mentioned that the upgrade brings Galaxy S II devices support for the Google Voice and video chat integration, as well as support for video calling over UMTS network.

The update is now available for download via Samsung's servers, but requires users to install the latest version of Samsung Kies desktop software.

Official KG5 XEO POLAND 2.3.4 and KG7 TTT Brazil 2.3.4 can be flashed using Odin, instead of Samsung Kies.

It is also worth mentioning that for unknown reasons the KG5 update does not contain the Google Talk’s video functionality yet.

Android 2.3.4 is the latest version of the mobile platform for smartphones, before Google announces the next-generation Ice Cream Sandwich operating system.

On related news, the original Samsung Galaxy S is also expected to receive the Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread update by the end of the year.

In fact Samsung is gearing up for the release of Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread OS on multiple models, but stated that the updates will be announced closer to their release dates.

Galaxy S II owners living in other countries are recommended to check for the update regularly.
