One of the first smartphones to feature an HD display, the Samsung Galaxy S II HD LTE is about to make its debut in South Korea.

The superphone was unveiled by Samsung last month and should hit shelves tomorrow for 800,000 won ($709 or 509 EUR).

Unlike the original Galaxy S II, this one has been boosted with an HD display, LTE support and a better processor, to make it more attractive in the South Korean market.

However, the smartphone will be introduced in other regions as well. Samsung Galaxy S II HD LTE was spotted last week at FCC (Federal Communication Commission), but it was listed under a different name, Samsung SHV-E120L.

There is no information on the phone's release in the United States, but we can safely assume that the superphone will be available just in time for the holidays.

Samsung Galaxy S II HD LTE embeds one of the most powerful CPUs, as the phone is equipped with a dual-core 1.5 GHz Qualcomm MSM 8660 Snapdragon processor, which is complemented by the latest Adreno 220 graphics processing unit.

The main attraction of the device is the large 4.65-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 16 million colors and 720 x 1280 pixels resolution, which is protected by Gorilla Glass display.

On the inside, the Galaxy S II HD LTE packs 16GB of internal memory, 1 GB of RAM and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB, 8GB memory card included).

On the back, the smartphone boasts an 8-megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash and full (1080p) HD video recording capabilities, while on the front there's a secondary 2-megapixel camera for video calls.

Software-wise, Galaxy S II HD LTE runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread platform with TouchWiz 4.0 user interface on top.

The phone provides access to more than 250,000 apps via Android Market, and comes pre-loaded with Google's full suite of apps and services, including Google Search, Maps, Gmail, YouTube, Calendar, Google Talk, and Picasa integration.
