Samsung Galaxy S II, the new flagship Android-based smartphone from the South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung should arrive on shelves in the company's mother country before the end of this month, if some of the latest reports on the matter are to be believed.

The leading mobile phone maker already announced that it plans on making the device generally available starting with late April, and it seems that its homeland market would be among the first ones to receive it.

We already reported on the upcoming availability of the device on the Romanian market starting with the second half of May, though other countries, including some European markets, would launch it sooner than that.

In South Korea, the mobile phone is expected to hit the shelves via wireless carriers, Samsung Hub notes, though it remains to be seen when exactly that would happen, and what would be the cost it would sport.

The new device, the direct successor of the company's Galaxy S, would arrive on shelves with appealing hardware specifications, while being able to offer increased performance levels.

The smartphone packs a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus display, along with a dual-core application processor, and an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with HD video recording capabilities.

The specification list of Samsung's Galaxy S II would also include a fast dual-core application processor, which, according to some of the latest rumors, might have been clocked at 1.2GHz, up from the initially planned 1GHz core speed.

Other specs of the new device would include front-facing camera, HSPA+ connectivity, WiFi, Bluetooth, DLNA, built-in GOPS receiver, a 1650mAh battery, and more.

The new Samsung Galaxy S II was unveiled to the world in February, during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, and is powered by Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system.

The mobile phone would also offer support for various Google Mobile Services, as well as for applications available for download via the Android Market.
