Samsung Galaxy S DUOS 2 went on sale in India last week, but the South Korean handset maker did not announce the dual-SIM smartphone until today.

Today, the company issued a press release that confirms that Galaxy S DUOS 2 has been especially designed for the Indian market, so it’s less likely to see this one being launched in other countries anytime soon.

“Especially created for the Indian market, the Galaxy S Duos 2’s regional language support enables consumers to access apps from the Samsung Application Store in Hindi, Punjabi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Assamese, Marathi and Gujarati.

“Customers can experience popular apps such as ChatOn, Facebook, Gmail and Newshunt in their own language right away. The apps that support Indian languages are available across various categories ranging from entertainment, games, utility, lifestyle, devotional and business,” mentions Samsung in a press release.

Samsung announced a similar suggested price for the Galaxy S DUOS 2, so customers can continue to pick this one up for only Rs 10,990 ($175/€130) outright via major retailers across the country. The smartphone is available in both black and white color options.

Software-wise, the Galaxy S DUOS 2 ships with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box, along with country-specific apps and services, as mentioned in the press release.

On the inside, the handset is equipped with a dual-core processor clocked at 1.2 GHz, which is complemented by 768MB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory. Users will be able to further expand storage up to 64GB via microSD memory card.

The Galaxy S DUOS 2 sports a 4-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports 480 x 800 pixels resolution, as well as dual cameras (5-megapixel rear photo snapper and VGA front-facing camera).

Last but not least, the smartphone offers dual-SIM support, 3G HSPA+ and Wi-Fi connectivity, along with Bluetooth, GPS and 1500 mAh Li-Ion battery.
