Although everyone is caught up in this Galaxy S III madness, we should take note that other handsets announced not long ago are making their way onto shelves.

Unveiled three months ago, Samsung Galaxy S Advance is finally close to make its debut in the UK. The smartphone has just been confirmed for April 30 across multiple networks including Phones 4U and Vodafone.

Although Samsung has yet to reveal the phone’s no-term price, we can safely assume that Galaxy S Advance will be available for free on select plans.

Design-wise, the handset follows the same line as the popular Galaxy S II. It measures 123.2 x 63 x 9.7 mm and weighs 120g (battery included).

The phone is quite powerful thanks to the 1 GHz dual-core processor and 768MB of RAM. In addition, the Galaxy S Advance packs 2GB of RAIM and 8GB of internal memory, which can be expanded up to 32GB via microSD card.

The Galaxy S Advance will be shipped with Android 2.3 Gingerbread platform, but the phone should be upgradable to Ice Cream Sandwich, so we’re waiting for Samsung’s confirmation.

It is also worth mentioning that the phone sports a more than decent 4.0-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display that supports 480 x 800 pixels resolution, and features Corning Gorilla Glass coating.

Last but not least, Galaxy S Advance sports a 5-megapixel rear photo snapper with autofocus and LED flash, as well as a secondary 1.3-megpaixel front-facing camera for video calls.

We’ve been pleased with the response we’ve had from customers, partners and media since announcing the Galaxy S Advance in January. As with many of our smartphones before it, the Galaxy S Advance features a screen which uses our Super AMOLED technology so anyone that buys one will experience unparalleled colour and vivid clarity when viewing any content on the device,” said Simon Stanford, vice president, UK & IRE Telecommunications & Networks Division, Samsung UK and Ireland.
