Samsung Galaxy R is already available for purchase in Sweden and is about to make its debut in several countries in Europe and China, but the official announcement came only recently.

Also known as Samsung Galaxy Z, the smartphone's strong point is the NVIDIA Tegra 2 chipset, which makes it one of the most powerful Android devices available on the market.

In addition, the handset is powered by Google's Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) operating system, as well as Samsung's proprietary TouchWiz user interface.

Equipped with a dual-core 1GHz Tegra 2 AP20H processor, complemented by an ULP GeForce GPU, Samsung Galaxy R offers users the possibility to multitask efficiently, surf the Web quickly with fast-loading pages and Flash-based content and enjoy HD movies.

With Galaxy R users will also be able to access Tegra-optimized games through the Tegra Zone app on Android Market.

Samsung's newest super phone shows off Tegra's multimedia power, and is a great example of what consumers expect from one of the world's top phone makers,” said Michael Rayfield, general manager of NVIDIA's mobile business.

In this regard, the phone comes with a 4.19-inch WVGA Super Clear LCD capacitive touchscreen display with 16 million colors support and 480 x 800 pixels resolution.

Furthermore, the smartphone packs 8GB of internal memory, as well as microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

A 5-megapixel main camera with 720p HD video capture and 1080p Full HD playback (DivX, WMV, MP4, H.264 B/P only) is also included, along with a secondary front-facing camera for video calls.

According to Samsung, the Galaxy R will soon be available in North & Eastern Europe, South East & West Asia, Middle East Asia, and China.

Unfortunately, there's no information about the phone's release in America, so we can assume that the phone will not be available in the U.S. any time soon.
