Announced in March during the Samsung SEA (Southeast Asia & Oceania) Forum in Singapore, the Galaxy Pro QWERTY bar phone is about to hit Indian stores soon.

Even though the manufacturer hasn't disclosed any details regarding the phone's availability, the Galaxy Pro is now listed by Indian online retailer Flipkart with an estimated release date for the third week of April.

Samsung Galaxy Pro is also available for pre-orders in India from the same retailer for Rs. 12,290 (about $278), unlocked and SIM-free.

Although it was tagged as a mid-budget Android smartphone, the Galaxy Pro targets business users looking for a QWERTY device with a touchscreen.

In its favor, the Galaxy Pro strongly resembles Blackberry handsets, which makes it even more appealing to the business class.

It comes with an average 2.8-inch capacitive touchscreen with 262k colors support and a native 320 x 240 pixels resolution.

In addition to its four-row QWERTY keyboard, the smartphone is expected to be delivered with the latest TouchWiz UI, optical trackpad, accelerometer sensor for UI auto-rotate, as well as proximity sensor for auto turn-off.

The smartphone is powered by a single 800 MHz processor and runs on Android 2.2. There's no information about a possible software upgrade for the moment.

However, as soon as the smartphone will be available on more markets, the manufacturer will decide if the Galaxy Pro will get to taste Gingerbread, according to its level of popularity.

It might be unimportant for a business phone, but Galaxy Pro also features an average 3.0-megapixels rear camera, which lacks a LED flash and autofocus capabilities though.

In terms of connectivity, the smartphone is HSDPA-enabled and features Wi-Fi, as well as Samsung Hub Premium.

The phone's 1350 mAh Li-Ion battery should provide up to 610 hours (430 hours for 3G) of standby time or up to 11 hours (6 hours for 3G) of talk time.
