The Galaxy Pop Plus popped up in India yesterday, but we initially thought that the phone wouldn’t be available earlier than next week.

However, it appears that the smartphone was available for purchase in the country for a few days now. Today, major retailer Flipkart added the Samsung Galaxy Pop Plus to its portfolio of budget-friendly Android smartphones.

As we reported yesterday, the Indian retailer offers the Galaxy Pop Plus for only Rs 8,330 (170 USD or 130 EUR) outright.

Samsung also introduced three new dual-SIM Android phones on the Indian market, such as the Galaxy Ace DUOS, Galaxy Y DUOS and Galaxy Y Pro DUOS.

All three are now available for purchase for similar prices, which probably make them a better choice than the entry-level Galaxy Pop Plus.

Samsung Galaxy Pop Plus is the improved version of the Galaxy Pop, which was launched on the market back in April. However, the enhanced model comes with better processor and battery, as well as a newer mobile platform.

Although Flipkart lists the phone as being powered by Android 2.2 Froyo, Samsung Galaxy Pop Plus runs Google’s Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread operating system. In addition, the phone comes with an improved 1600 mAh Li-Ion battery and a better 832 MHz single-core processor.

The rest of the features seem to be similar with the original Galaxy Pop model, so expect this one to sport a 3.14-inch capacitive touchscreen (240 x 320 pixels resolution), 160 MB of internal memory, 384 MB of RAM and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB, 2GB memory card included).

On the back, Samsung Galaxy Pop Plus packs a mediocre 3-megapixel photo snapper with video recording. Other highlights of the phone include Wi-Fi and Bluetooth support, Stereo FM radio, as well as HSDPA and microUSB port.
