Shortly after AT&T and Samsung announced the upcoming availability of the Galaxy Note in the United States, Canadian carrier TELUS came forward and confirmed it would offer the smartphone “later this quarter.”
The folks over at MobilSyrup have just been informed that the Galaxy Note will be unveiled along with TELUS’ LTE network, which is expected to light up next month.
For the time being, it’s unclear whether Samsung Galaxy Note will be exclusively available via TELUS or other major carriers will retail it as well.
Just like the AT&T variant, TELUS Galaxy Note features a slightly different design than the European model. Instead of the big D-pad button, this one comes with a set of four touch-sensitive keys.
Another difference is the back cover which features a textured pattern, while the European Galaxy Note has a smooth polished battery cover.
Otherwise, the rest of the specs sheet is similar, including the extra-large 5.3-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display that boasts 800 x 1280 pixels resolution, and the 1.5 GHz dual core Qualcomm MSM8660 Snapdragon processor.
TELUS Galaxy Note will be delivered with Android 2.3 Gingerbread on board, but the smartphone will receive an Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade soon afterwards.
The smartphone sports an enhanced 8-megapixel rear camera with autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording, as well as 2-megapixel front-facing camera for high-quality video calls.
On the inside, the Galaxy Note packs an Adreno 220 graphics processing unit, 16GB on board memory, 1GB of RAM and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).
Software-wise, the smartphone comes pre-loaded with Samsung’s TouchWiz user interface, as well as pen input technology, which allows users to sketch drawings or take notes via the S Pen stylus, which is included in the sales package.
TELUS has yet to unveil any details regarding the smarpthone’s pricing options.
