Now that Samsung has introduced the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge flagships and the phones are shipping out to consumers, everyone’s interest has turned towards Sammy’s upcoming premium phablet, the Galaxy Note 5.

While the general consensus seems to be that Samsung will unveil the device at IFA 2015, a new report coming out of Who Wired indicates that the phone will be launched sooner than expected.

Apparently, Samsung has decided to move things along, so the company will be able to complete the prototype of the phablet by mid-June. Therefore, the source expects the Galaxy Note 5 to be launched by the end of July.

According to the information, Samsung already confirmed the final specs of the handset and even showcased it to partners, including global telecom companies. Carriers will be ready to take in pre-orders for the phablet by the end of July.

Samsung wants to be ready for Apple's new iPhones

Since the source is a pretty shady one, we recommend that you take the information we shared with you above with a grain of salt. Nevertheless, the leakster says Samsung has been motivated to push the release date for the Galaxy Note 5 closer in order to counter the launch of this year’s new iPhones.

When Apple rolls out the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus this autumn, Samsung already wants to have a new premium model out.

So the Korean tech giant hastened the design process of the phablet and is now one step closer to sending it into mass production.

According to the aforementioned report, Samsung’s next-gen phablet should arrive with a 5.9-inch 4K Super AMOLED display and an Exynos SoC, not a Qualcomm one.

At some point, we told you that Samsung was testing Galaxy Note 5 with an unannounced Exynos 7430 chipset on the inside and a 4K display. However, back then, we assumed the chip and the display wouldn’t become available in time for the September launch.

But we might have been wrong. Apparently, Samsung is ready to implement a 4K display on its next-gen phablet and maybe a new SoC will also become available.

Other specifications of the model include 64/128GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD card to 256GB) and a pretty generous 4,100 mAh battery. The phablet is said to be pretty sleek, coming with a 7.9 mm / 0.31-inch body.
