Operating a phone with a knife may not be such a good idea

There are a variety of tests that a handset manufacturer can do to its products to prove their build quality or resistance to various factors. But usually these tests do not really put these products in danger of being broken, unless they are defective.

Well, we can’t say the same thing about the following so-called “knife test” that’s been endured by Samsung’s new flagship smartphone, the Galaxy Note 4.

The Galaxy Note 4 is Samsung’s first handset that packs a Quad HD (1440 x 2560 pixels) display. The 5.7-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display features 515ppi (pixel per inch) and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 coating that protects it against scratches.

The latter is a very important piece of information as you will notice in the video embedded below. If the Galaxy Note 4 has Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on the display, then it should withstand quite a few scratches during daily use.

Well, it looks like one Galaxy Note 4 owner wanted to see how well the phablet performs when operated with a … knife. Besides testing the sensitivity of the display, YouTuber adrianisen also provided some insight on how resistant to scratches the Galaxy Note 4’s display is.

The video shows the Galaxy Note 4 responds well enough when touched with the tip of the knife. Even the touch-sensitive key below the display seem to be responsive when operated with the same knife.

Don't ever try this at home unless you can afford a new Galaxy Note 4

However, the ultimate knife test seems to have been passed by the Galaxy Note 4 when adrianisen starts playing Fruit Ninja and swipes the knife from left to right and vice-versa.

Aside the fact that he can play the game without any major issues, the display did not seem to be affected at all even if it was repeatedly scratched with the knife.

Obviously, that’s one of the traits of the Corning Gorilla Glass 3 that protects the Galaxy Note 4’s display, so those who were having second thoughts on how the phablet’s display would withstand scratches can rest easy now.

We don’t recommend those who already own the Galaxy Note 4 trying this at home, as the test may result in scratched or even broken display.

As per YouTuber adrianisen’s statement, Samsung Galaxy Note 4 has the most sensitive and resistant display on the market, so there you have it, folks. Don’t forget though that playing Fruit Ninja with a real knife on your smartphone can be dangerous for its display.
