The Galaxy Note 3 Neo was launched by Samsung earlier this year in order for fans who could not afford the original model to get an almost similar device at a lower price.

However, the smartphone was launched with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box, and no promises that it would ever receive a KitKat upgrade in the future.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo was pretty popular among customers in India, as even without KitKat onboard the smartphone still attracted quite a lot of Android fans.

Word about a possible Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for Galaxy Note 3 Neo boosted the phone’s sales slightly a few months ago, but the lack of additional details disappointed owners of the phablet.

It appears that it took Samsung about six months to bring the highly anticipated Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for Galaxy Note 3 Neo in India.

XDA Forum member Evil Eye claims that the phablet is now eligible for the update in India and has some screenshots to prove it. Those who own the Galaxy Note 3 Neo should start checking for Android 4.4.2 KitKat right now. In order to do that, simply go to Settings / About Phone / Software Update and hope for the best.

Keep in mind that the update is pushed OTA (over the air) in stages, so not all Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo devices might receive it at the same time. If it doesn’t show on your phone yet, then you should check for it a bit later.

When it comes to changes, it looks like Samsung did not add anything of its own in the update, so you will only get the usual new features and improvements confirmed by Google.

Aside from upgrading the phone’s operating system to Android 4.4.2 KitKat, the update also adds a new launcher setting menu (Home Screen, SMS).

In addition, the Music Album art will now be displayed on the lock screen while playing music. The Camera shortcut was added to the Lock screen. The update should also improve UI (user interface) and stability.

According to the official changelog, some changes included in the update may vary depending on country or network, so you may not get all the improvements or new features mentioned by Samsung.

Anyway, make sure that you have enough space on your phone and that the battery is at least 50% charged. It appears that Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo has around 495MB in size, so we recommend downloading it via Wi-Fi network to avoid extra mobile data charges.
