Mobile phone users in India can now purchase a new handset coming from South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung, none other than the Galaxy Note 3 Neo, which was officially launched in the country only last week.

Today, the smartphone can be seen listed on this page on Samsung India’s official website, with a price tag of Rs. 38,990 ($631/€457) attached to it.

For those out of the loop, we should note that Galaxy Note 3 Neo was unveiled as the smaller, downgraded version of the Galaxy Note 3 device that was launched at the IFA 2013 show in Berlin.

The handset is almost the same size as its bigger brother, featuring a 5-inch touchscreen display, and it also comes with about the same capabilities as the flagship phone, including a stylus, for easier input.

However, many of the phone’s specifications are lower when compared to those of Galaxy Note 3, including the screen resolution, which is of only 1280 x 720 pixels.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo was launched with a hexa-core chipset (1.7GHz dual-core + 1.3GHz quad-core Exynos 5260 processor) inside, yet there is also a 1.6GHz quad-core version available.

To ensure that the phone can offer great performance capabilities, Samsung packed it with 2GB of RAM inside, also less than what Galaxy Note 3 has to offer.

However, we must say that the smartphone can perform very well, at least this was the impression it left on us when we played with it at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona earlier this week.

Its design is similar to that of Galaxy Note 3, and the device actually feels the same as the high-end smartphone, despite being targeted at a different market segment.

The handset packs a 16GB of internal memory, as well as a microSD memory card slot that offers support for up to 64GB of external storage. With only 11GB of user-available memory, the microSD card slot will certainly prove a great option for many.

Galaxy Note 3 Neo also sports an 8-megapixel camera on the back, with BSI sensor and LED flash, capable of recording videos in full HD resolution. It also has a 2MP front camera for video calling.

Users will have plenty to take advantage of when it comes to the connectivity capabilities of this device as well, given that it comes with 3G HSPA+, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac, and Bluetooth 4.0. Moreover, the smartphone features GPS/GLONASS and NFC.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo is powered by a 3100mAh battery, while running under the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system. It is available in India in Black at the moment, though it will arrive in Mint Green and White colors as well in the near future.
