Good news for Samsung fans in India, as Samsung has just cut the price of the Galaxy Note 3 Neo phablet, which was launched in the country recently.

It appears that the initial Rs 38,990 ($650/ €470) retail price that Samsung introduced the smartphone with in India was too high for the consumers, who probably boycotted its sales.

However, starting this week, potential customers can grab the Galaxy Note 3 Neo a lot cheaper, as Samsung is now selling the smartphone for only Rs 33,900 ($565 / €410) off contract.

As AndroidOS points out, this is big discount for a new smartphone that has been launched only recently on the market, which means sales for Galaxy Note 3 Neo are really disappointing for the South Korean company.

The slightly less powerful version of Samsung Galaxy Note 3 comes with a hexa-core Exynos 5260 chipset inside, which accommodates a 1.3GHz quad-core processor and a 1.7GHz dual-core CPU.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo also packs a Mali-T624 graphics processing unit, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory.

Let’s not forget the large 5.5-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution, as well as the famous S Pen stylus that comes with the phablet.

Unlike the original Galaxy Note 3 which boasts an impressive 13-megapixel rear-facing camera, the Galaxy Note 3 Neo comes with an 8-megapixel main camera, which features autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording.

The same 2-megapixel front-facing camera is included with both Galaxy Note 3 versions, so users will be able to take selfies or use it for video calls.

The only downside is the Galaxy Note 3 Neo ships with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box and Samsung has yet to confirm the availability of a KitKat upgrade. On the other hand, the Galaxy Note 3 has already received an Android 4.4.2 KitKat update in most parts of the world.

It is also worth mentioning the Galaxy Note 3 Neo is powered by a slightly lower 3,100 mAh battery that should provide up to 540 hours of standby time or up to 18 hours of talk time. The original Galaxy Note 3 drains energy from a 3,200 mAh battery.

The new price cut on Galaxy Note 3 Neo takes effect beginning this week, so you may find the smartphone much cheaper at all authorized retailers across the country. Are you going to pick the Galaxy Note 3 Neo after the big price cut?
