There aren’t too many Samsung Galaxy Note 3 units in the world that received an Android 4.4.4 KitKat upgrade and you can be sure that there’s none that got the Lollipop update.

Although previous rumor claimed Samsung might finally release Android 4.4.4 KitKat for Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy S5 by the end of the year, there’s only one smartphone coming with this version of the OS onboard and that’s the Galaxy Note 4.

One of the first Galaxy Note 3 models having received the Android 4.4.4 KitKat update was Sprint’s version, which got the upgrade back in September.

Since then, there was a bit of a silence in the United States regarding the Android 4.4.4 KitKat for Galaxy Note 3. All until today when Verizon announced the long-awaited update is now available for download.

The update is delivered OTA (over the air) in stages, so it might take a while until it reaches all Verizon Galaxy Note 3 units.

Android 4.4.4 is the last version of KitKat released by Google and an indication that Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is finally ready to receive the highly anticipated Android 5.0 Lollipop upgrade.

Verizon Galaxy Note 3 owners will probably laugh and cry at the same time as the Android 4.4.4 KitKat update aimed at their phablets brings both good and bad changes.

First of all, the upgrade includes lots of performance improvements, which are meant to enhance user experience even further. Some bug fixes have been included in Android 4.4.4 KitKat as well, but there aren’t too many new features.

It contains some bloatware, along with some apps and services updates

The bad news is the update contains some bloatware as well, which was probably one of the reasons Android 4.4.4 KitKat for Galaxy Note 3 was delayed so much.

According to the official changelog, the update should contain an updated version of Verizon Support & Protection, as well as Caller Name ID. In addition, Isis Wallet has been changed to Softcard.

As soon as Android 4.4.4 KitKat installs on the Galaxy Note 3, owners will notice that their smartphones will have Knox 2.0 for enterprise support and Find My Mobile feature. The Side Sync Call Forwarding Framework service and the Kids Mode stub have also been included.

Furthermore, the LTE connectivity has been improved, along with voice call performance. The Bluetooth audio issue when the device is connected has also been corrected.

Last but not least, an SMS issue previously reported by Verizon Galaxy Note 3 owners and the fixed data disconnect problem when using VPN have been addressed in this update.
