Starting today, mobile phone users in 140 countries around the world should be able to purchase the new Galaxy Note 3 smartphone from Samsung.

The device was made official on September 4 at the IFA 2013 show in Berlin, when Samsung confirmed its availability starting with today.

The smartphone is set to become available through various retailers, though some wireless carriers will not release it on their networks for a few more days, such as those in the United States.

As AndroidPolice notes, US users interested in grabbing the smartphone contract-free will find it at retailers such as Negri Electronics, with a price tag of $770 (€572) attached to it.

Galaxy Note 3 arrives on shelves with a 5.7-inch screen, a Snapdragon 800 / Exynos Octa processor inside, and 3GB of RAM. It also features a 13MP camera, Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, and the usual set of connectivity capabilities.
