South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung Electronics has just made official a new handset aimed at its home market, namely the Samsung Galaxy Neo (SHW-M220L).

The new mobile phone did not receive a specific release date as of now, but it should land at wireless carrier LG U+ in the not too far future.

No specific info on the price tag for this device emerged for the time being, but, based on the specifications list it feature, it should prove an affordable smartphone.

The new Samsung Galaxy Neo should hit the shelves with an 800MHz application processor inside, which should be complemented by a 3.5-inch touchscreen display that could boast a WVGA (800 x 480 pixel) resolution.

At the same time, the new mobile phone is said to come to the market with DivX support, and T-DMB, as well as with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 3.0 capabilities.

Samsung Galaxy Neo's specifications list would also include a 3-megapixel photo snapper, complemented by a front-facing camera for video calling.

A 3.5mm headphone jack and 4GB of internal memory would also be included into the mix, along with built-in GPS receiver, or Kies Air support.

The available internal memory of this smartphone would be easily expandable through the microSD memory card slot Samsung packed it with. The phone also sports a 1500mAh battery.

When put on sale, the new Samsung Galaxy Neo would run under Google's Android 2.2 Froyo operating system.

In addition to support to various Google Mobile services, the mobile phone is also expected to enjoy access to downloadable applications available through Android Market and OZ Store.

The Samsung Galaxy Neo is expected to become available for purchase it black and white flavors.

As the photos available with the new mobile phone show (via Samsung Hub), it comes with a great deal of similarities with the Samsung Galaxy Ace, though the specifications list shows that they are different handsets.
