There have been many leaks claiming the Galaxy Mega 6.3 will eventually receive the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update, but the information has been confirmed by Samsung as well, though the South Korean company did not disclose any details regarding the exact release date of the update.

Well, it looks like today is the day Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 owners can start checking for the major update on their phablets. Initially launched with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system onboard, the 6.3-inch phablet will soon receive the highly-anticipated Android 4.4.2 KitKat upgrade.

According to SamMobile, the update is now available in Russia, but only via Samsung Kies desktop software. Samsung has probably released the update for a limited number of users to see if there are still any bugs that need fixing.

If everything is ok, Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 owner should expect the update to arrive on their smartphones in the next couple of days. Obviously, depending on the country and carrier, it might take longer than that for the update to reach devices.

Aside from bringing the Galaxy Mega 6.3 software to Android 4.4.2 KitKat, the update also adds some new feature and improvements, such as the white status bar icons, better battery life and camera shortcut on the lock screen. Have you captured the update yet?
