Rumors on the upcoming Galaxy Mega 2 phablet continue to surface, as Samsung is close to making the smartphone official. For the time being, the unannounced handset seems to undergo testing, which is why we’re seeing a steady flow of tidbits of info about Galaxy Mega 2 leaking online.

No later than yesterday we reported that the phone’s display size was confirmed by various sources familiar with the matter and now it looks like the Galaxy Mega 2 has been spotted at Gfxbench, a benchmarking application popular among Android users.

The smartphone was spotted by Dutch blog site Oude Telefoon Inleveren and judging by the specs appearing at Gfxbench, the Galaxy Mega 2 is a pure mid-range Android smartphone.

The advantage is that users will be getting Android 4.4.2 KitKat and a huge 6-inch display, which are rarely included in a mid-range smartphone.

Handset manufacturers more often include larger displays into their products, but the KitKat adoption is bleeding as mid-range handsets usually come with Jelly Bean onboard, for unknown reasons.

The sequel to Galaxy Mega, which sports a huge 6.3-inch screen, will come with a slightly smaller 6-inch capacitive touchscreen display which is said to support HD (720p) resolution.

The Galaxy Mega 2 appears at Gfxbench as Samsung SM-G750 and is listed with a 4.9-inch display. However, given the fact that Samsung uses multiple test units, the size of the screen is likely to be different in each case.

This means that the previous information regarding the 6-inch display packed in the Galaxy Mega 2 still stands until Samsung says otherwise.

Anyway, back to the Galaxy Mega 2 specs, it looks like the smartphone will be powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor. The smartphone appears to be packed with a Samsung Exynos 4 Quad chipset, which is unusual.

Furthermore, the Galaxy Mega 2 appears to be fitted with 1.5GB of RAM and a Mali-400 MP4 graphics processing unit. It also features 16GB of internal memory and, hopefully, microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 128GB).

On the back, the phablet will sport an 8-megapixel photo snapper with autofocus and full HD (1080p) video recording. The camera might have LED flash as well, but this information has yet to be confirmed.

Last but not least, Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 is said to feature a 2-megapixel front-facing camera, which is also capable of capturing full HD (1080p) videos, but it can be used for video calls as well.
