Good news for Samsung fans in the United States who can’t afford the Galaxy Note 4 yet, as the South Korean handset maker plans to introduce another phablet in the country, the Galaxy Mega 2.

Officially unveiled last month, the sequel to the mildly popular Samsung Galaxy Mega, the new phablet comes packed with several improvements over the previous model.

Those who already own the Galaxy Mega 6.3 or Galaxy Mega 5.8 and thought about switching to the Galaxy Mega 2 may want to know that the latter will only be available in the US through AT&T.

Potential customers will be able to pick this one up beginning October 24 for only $150 (€115) on 2-year agreements, but they can also get the Galaxy Mega 2 for $19.80 (€15.45) a month with Next 18, or $23.75 (€18.55) a month with Next 12.

Android fans who don’t want to commit to a long-term contract with AT&T will be able to grab the Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 for $475 (€370) outright.

Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 has been confirmed to shop with Android 4.4.3 KitKat operating system out of the box, which is one of the newest versions of the platform that runs on a Samsung smartphone.

Only Galaxy Note 4 comes with a newer version, namely Android 4.4.4 KitKat, but other Samsung smartphones such as Galaxy S5, Galaxy Note 3 and many others are waiting to receive the last iteration of KitKat in the coming weeks.

Moving on to specs, Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 sports a 6-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution. The phablet also packs an impressive 8-megapixel rear-facing photo snapper with autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording. There’s also a secondary 2.1-megapixel camera in the front for video calls and selfies.

On the inside, the Galaxy Mega 2 is equipped with a 1.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor, an Adreno 306 graphics processing unit and 1.5GB of RAM.

The smartphone comes packed with 16GB of internal memory, but users can further expand storage up to 64GB via microSD card slot.

Connectivity-wise, the smartphone offers a wide range of options, including LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, microUSB 2.0 and GPS with A-GPS and GLONASS.

Last but not least, Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 is powered by a high-capacity 2800 mAh battery, which has yet to be rated by the manufacturer. Will you be picking this one instead of Samsung’s new flagship smartphone, the Galaxy Note 4?
