There are some new details that might be of interest to those waiting for the less expansive Galaxy Mega 2 phablet that’s supposed to be aimed at fans who can’t afford the company’s top-tier device, Galaxy Note 4.

The folks over at SamMobile have just been tipped on the Galaxy Mega 2 specs, which happen to include an Exynos 4415 chipset. The phablet is expected to be unveiled early next month during IFA 2014 trade fair, but Samsung may decide to introduce the device a bit earlier as to not confuse its customers by releasing two phablets the same day.

Anyway, even if Samsung goes official with the Galaxy Mega 2 earlier than we anticipate, here is what you can expect from the mid-range phablet.

Well, first of all, the folks over at SamMobile have been able to confirm with a tipster familiar with the device, that the European version of the Galaxy Mega 2 will be packed with Samsung’s Exynos 4415 system on chip.

The said chipset will accommodate a 1.4GHz quad-core Cortex A9 processor and a 533MHz Mali-400MP4 graphics processing unit. Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 is also rumored to feature 2GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 128GB via microSD card slot.

Aside from getting confirmation from the anonymous source, SamMobile has also managed to crack open the official firmware of the Galaxy Mega 2 it has been served earlier today, and has noticed the European version of the phablet will be indeed equipped with an Exynos 4415 chipset.

Some related info provided by the leaker also highlights the fact that Galaxy Mega 2 is internally know as Samsung Vasta and features the SM-G750F model number.

The phone will also come with some software called Easy Side Panel, which enables on-screen navigation buttons on either right or left side of the phablet to make it easier to use the phone with one hand.

Confirming previous rumors, the cited source also claims that Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 will boast a huge 5.99-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution.

On the back, the phablet might pack an enhanced 12-megapixel photo snapper with autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording. In the front, the Galaxy Mega 2 is likely to feature a 2-megapixel camera but the information has yet to be confirmed.

It’s also worth mentioning that SamMobile’s source says that the Galaxy Mega 2 won’t be coming with fingerprint scanner or heart rate monitor, probably in order to keep the costs lower. That’s about all for now, but stay tuned for more info on the Galaxy Mega 2.
