As expected, Samsung introduced the spiritual successor of the Galaxy S4 zoom during its press event held in Singapore earlier today. The new Galaxy K zoom will be available for purchase in multiple markets beginning May, but there’s no word on pricing options yet.

We don’t even know when and where exactly the Galaxy K zoom will go on sale, but we expect that more details will surface in the coming weeks.

Samsung Galaxy K zoom comes with a stunning 20.7-megapixel rear-facing camera featuring a 1/2.3-inch sensor and Xenon Flash. According to Samsung, the smartphone has been equipped with new retracting lens technology, which is capable of providing 10x optical zoom.

The phone’s back camera also comes with BSI CMOS sensor for a better, clearer and very detailed image. Thanks to the Xenon Flash and Optical Image Stabilizer (OIS), the smartphone can now take stunning pictures even in low light conditions.

Aside from the feature mentioned earlier, Galaxy K zoom’s camera also offers AF/AE Separation (Auto Focus/ Auto Exposure Separation), along with a unique Pro Suggest mode that offers 5 optimized filter settings.

Last but not least, with the Selfie Alarm mode, users will be able to take timed selfies much easier, and object tracing for a clear, focused shot of a moving subject.

Design-wise, the Galaxy K zoom is sleeker and more stylish than its predecessor. The smartphone measures 137.5 x 70.8 x 16.6mm and weighs 200 grams (battery included).

It will ship with Android 4.4 KitKat operating system out of the box and the latest version of TouchWiz. On the inside, the Galaxy K zoom comes equipped with a hexa-core chipset that accommodates a 1.3GHz quad-core processor and a 1.7GHz dual-core CPU.

It is also worth mentioning that Samsung Galaxy K zoom offers LTE and 3G support, along with 2GB of RAM, 8GB of internal memory, microSD card slot (up to 64GB) and 2430 mAh battery.

“With the introduction of the Galaxy K zoom, Samsung continues to demonstrate our commitment to creating products that meet the diverse demands of our consumers.

The new Galaxy K zoom empowers users to effortlessly capture and share their most important everyday moments in stunning clarity, with the convenience and connectedness of a Galaxy smartphone, for a unique, all-in-one mobile experience,” said Sun Hong Lim, senior vice president of mobile communications business at Samsung Electronics.
