14 DAY TRIAL // The Galaxy J1 is one of the cheapest Android smartphones launched by Samsung in the last couple of months. The phone's specs are so low that we thought the South Korean company will only sell it in emerging markets.
And we would have continued to believe so, if not for the press renders showing the Verizon version of Samsung Galaxy J1 that have just been leaked by TechnoBuffalo.
Although Verizon and Samsung did not announced anything about the Galaxy J1, the images clearly show the carrier's logo etched on the smartphone's back cover.
If these pictures are authentic, then Samsung Galaxy J1 will definitely make its debut at Verizon at some point. Unfortunately, we don't have any details on pricing options and availability date, but judging from the phone's specs sheet, it should be available for free.
The Galaxy J1 is powered by Android 4.4.4 KitKat operating system and there's no chance whatsoever that the smartphone will ever receive a Lollipop upgrade. That's likely due to the limitations of the hardware inside the Galaxy J1.

Speaking of which, the Galaxy J1 is equipped with a 1.2GHz dual-core Cortex-A7 processor, a Mali-400 graphics processing unit, 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory.
The smartphone sports a 4.3-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports 480 x 800 pixels resolution. It's also powered by a 1,850 mAh battery, which is rated by Samsung for up to 10 hours of talk time or up to 40 hours of music playback.
There's also a 5-megapixel photo snapper on the back, which features autofocus, LED flash and HD (720p) video recording, as well as a secondary 2-megapixel camera in the front for video calls and selfies.
Samsung Galaxy J1 does not offer dual-SIM support, but it does come with numerous connectivity options, including Wi-Fi, 3G, Bluetooth 4.0, microUSB 2.0, FM Radio with RDS, and GPS with AGPS support.
