14 DAY TRIAL // One of the most popular affordable Android smartphones launched by Samsung, the Galaxy Grand Prime is about to a get a sequel.
In fact, the story behind the unannounced Galaxy Grand Prime Value Edition is unknown for the moment, but we do know that it's not really a sequel.
We know that because the Galaxy Grand Prime Value Edition has just popped up in Geekbench database, along with both specs and benchmark results.
Even though some of the phone's specs leaked not long ago, it appears that some of the information was slightly inaccurate.
For example, instead of the rumored Marvel PXA1908 chipset that should have been included in Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime Value Edition, the South Korean company has decided to pack a Spreadtrim SC8830 SoC (system on chip) inside.
That doesn't seem to make too much of a difference when it comes to performance because Galaxy Grand Prime Value Edition scored even lower than the original model.
Android 5.0 Lollipop might be its only strong point
According to GSMArena, the Galaxy Grand Prime scored 1469 points in GeekBench 3, while the upcoming model achieved only 1054 points during testing.
Even though that the smartphones were tested with different versions of Android, there is a major difference between the two, performance-wise.
Other highlights of the Galaxy Grand Prime Value Edition that have been revealed in benchmarks include 1.3GHz quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 32GB.
We also know that the smartphone will sport a 5-inch display with 480 x 800 pixels resolution and it will ship with Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system right out of the box.
There's no information or availability and pricing options yet, but since the smartphone's benchmarks have already been leaked we expect Samsung to make it official in the next couple of weeks.
