Unveiled back in November, Samsung’s mid-range Galaxy Grand 2 smartphone made it to the market only in January 2014. However, the device is only available for purchase in some countries and starting this week, South Korea will be among those countries where Android fans can grab the Galaxy Grand 2 as well.

SammyHub reports that Samsung has officially introduced the Galaxy Grand 2 in South Korean and has confirmed that the smartphone will go on sale this week at all major carriers in the country.

It appears that Samsung has priced the Galaxy Grand 2 at 517,000 Korean won, which is about $485 or €345. Unfortunately, that’s not a competitive price for a mid-range device such as the Galaxy Grand 2, but the South Korean market is known for its slightly higher prices, as opposed to emerging markets.

Customers in South Korea will be able to pick the Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 in either black or white color options. Keep in mind that only the single-SIM version of the smartphone is available in South Korea. The dual-SIM variant has also been released on the market, but it’s only available in some countries, such as India.

Software-wise, the Galaxy Grand 2 is pretty decent for a mid-range device. The smartphone ships with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box, but rumor has it that Samsung plans to offer an upgrade to Android 4.4.2 KitKat in the coming months.

On the inside, the smartphone is equipped with a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor clocked at 1.2GHz, as well as an Adreno 305 graphics processing unit.

Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 has been equipped with the same Qualcomm chipset that has been confirmed for the HTC Desire 816, though the latter’s CPU is clocked at 1.6GHz.

Anyway, one of the phone’s selling points should be the 5.25-inch TFT capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution. It also packs 1.5GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory, but thanks to the embedded microSD card slot, users will be able to expand storage up to 64GB.

Samsung has included a decent 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back as well, which has been confirmed to feature both autofocus and LED flash, but it can also record full HD (1080p@30fps) videos.

A secondary 1.9-megapxiel front-facing camera is included as well. According to Samsung, the 2600 mAh battery that powers the Galaxy Grand 2 should provide up to 370 hours of standby time or up to 17 hours of talk time.
